Purification of antisera is performed to improve the results of your applications. Purification of antisera benefits applications including WesternBlot, IHC, DotBlot, and ELISA. For example, the antibody fraction would be highly specific with "antigen specific affinity purifications" or highly pure with "whole IgG ProteinA purifications". Antibody Purification from Egg Yolk

One of the most important steps in receiving the strongest chicken antibodies is preparing the egg yolks. Most lipids and lipoproteins are removed by Davids Preparation I, which may be utilized directly in most applications. Preparation II eliminates residual leftover lipids and lipoproteins and integrates a chromatographic polishing step. Preparation III involves a low endotoxin affinity purification and sterile filtering for direct use in cell culture. Furthermore, for most applications, antigen specific affinity purifications for your egg yolk antibodies are suggested and may be performed after Preparation I.
